SUMMARY: We continue where we left off. Jack sets off to find Locke, but Kate
asks him to return for the sake of the other survivors. In the middle of the
funeral for Boone, Locke returns. In his fury, Jack collapses from exhaustion.
Sayid sets off to find out from Locke what happened to Boone. Locke takes him
to the plane. In the meantime, Kate drugs Jack so that he can get some well-
needed rest. When he comes to, Jack discovers that someone stole the key to the
guncase from him. Sayid tells Locke to take him to the hatch.

[EXT. BEACH - CRASH SITE -- DAY]

NARRATOR: (v.o.) Previously on "Lost"...

(Sayid takes a large metal beam and pokes it into the sand as he explains his
plan to Boone and Kate.)

SAYID: Three points of a triangle. One here on the beach. (He hands Kate an
item.) Another, Kate will position in the jungle, roughly two kilometers in.
And the third, I'll take to high ground.

(He points up to the mountain.)

[THE TRANSCEIVER]

(Sayid quickly picks up his souped-up transceiver and turns it on. The SLS ABT-
520 unit reads: Acquiring Signal.)

(Sayid moves around trying to find the source of the transmission.)

SAYID: Where are you?

CUT TO:

SAYID: (to himself) Where are you?

(Sayid's so engrossed with the unit that he doesn't see that someone's behind
him. We see a large stick as it's being raised.)

(Sayid turns.)

(Someone swings the stick like a bat and knocks Sayid out.)

(Sayid falls to the ground with a thud.)

CUT TO:

[Scene from 1X19: Deus Ex Machina]

[EXT. JUNGLE - THE PLANE -- DAY]

[BOONE]

(Boone is on the radio.)

BOONE: (to radio) Hello? Can you hear me?

INTERCUT WITH:

[THE PLANE]

(The plane tips over a little, the tree branch it's resting on giving a little
from the weight. Locke sits on the ground watching the plane.)

BOONE: (to radio) We're survivors of the crash of Oceanic --

LOCKE: (shouts) Boone, get out!

BOONE: (to radio) -- Flight 815! Please copy!

CUT TO:

(Suddenly, the small airplane falls off the side of the cliff, crashing nose
first into the ground below.)

(Locke remains helplessly on the ground.)

CUT TO:

[INT. CAVES - DAY]

(Jack tends to Boone.)

JACK: John, --

(Locke has moved away from Boone and back toward the mouth of the cave. He
looks back at Boone and Jack.)

JACK: -- tell me exactly what happened.

(Jack turns to get some supplies.)

(There's no answer. He looks up and back where he thought Locke was standing.)

JACK: John?

(Locke is gone.)

(All Jack sees are some survivors watching in the distance. Everyone in pairs
with looks of shock on their faces.)

(He doesn't see Locke among them.)

JACK: (shouts) Locke!

CUT TO:

[Scene from 1X20: Do No Harm]

[INT. CAVES - NIGHT]

(Boone is weak and barely conscious.)

BOONE: (mumbles) It fell -- the plane.

JACK: Locke said you fell from the cliff.

BOONE: It's 'cause of the hatch.

JACK: What hatch?

BOONE: John said not to tell.

JACK: What did Locke do?

CUT TO:

[INT. CAVES - DAY]

(Jack is at the water fountain while Charlie questions him.)

CHARLIE: Where's Shannon?

CUT TO:

[EXT. BEACH - MORNING]

[AUDIO OFF / SLOW MOTION]

(Sayid and Shannon have returned to the beach. They walk back to the group
hand-in-hand. They're smiling at each other. Sayid wraps his arm around
Shannon's waist.)

(Jack walks over to Sayid and Shannon. Sayid's smile fades from his face. He
looks at Shannon, then back to Jack.)

[LONG SHOT]

(Jack, Sayid and Shannon stand on the beach as Jack breaks the news to Shannon.)

(Shannon takes a couple of small steps backward.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. BEACH - DAY]

[AUDIO ON]

(Jack has his backpack on and is heading out. Kate starts after him.)

KATE: (alarmed) Jack? Where are you going?

JACK: (over his shoulder) To find John Locke.

FADE IN.

[INT. CAVES -- DAY]

(ON SAYID as he watches, Shannon brushes the hair from Boone's forehead with her
fingertips. He pauses a moment, looking down before he walks over to her.)

(Sayid sits next to Shannon, who has yet to acknowledge his presence.)

SAYID: Is there anything I can do for you?

(Shannon doesn't say anything. She doesn't take her eyes off Boone.)

SAYID: Sun said he wouldn't let Jack take his leg. He didn't want him using up
the antibiotics. She said he knew what was happening to him, that he was brave.

(Finally, Shannon looks at Sayid. She barely glances at him and nods, before
looking back at Boone.)

(She continues to brush Boone's hair from his forehead with her fingertips.)

(Sayid lapses into silence and watches her.)

[PRE-LAP]

VOICE (MAN): (P.A.) This is a special security announcement. Heathrow Airport
Authority reminds traveling ...

CUT TO:

[INT. (LONDON) HEATHROW AIRPORT - DAY - FLASHBACK]

(CU: ON SAYID)

VOICE (MAN): (P.A.) passengers of Safety Regulations Requirements. --

(Sayid walks through the busy airport lobby escorted by two men dressed in
fatigues. As they turn the corner, they pass a sign on the wall:
HEATHROW EXPRESS
THE FASTEST WAY
TO CENTRAL LONDON )

(They lead Sayid to the back. Sayid's hands are handcuffed behind him.)

[INT. (LONDON) HEATHROW AIRPORT - BACK ROOM - FLASHBACK]

(The handcuffs are removed. Sayid meets with Melissa Cole and Robert Hewitt.
The clock on the far wall behind Robert Hewitt reads 9:40. Free, Sayid silently
aches from the pain in his wrists.)

(Melissa Cole reaches for something in her suitcase.)

MELISSA COLE: Okay, Sayid. Eighteen hours in a holding cell should be enough.
Let's get to it, shall we?

(She puts a file folder on the table in front of her.)

MELISSA COLE: I'm Melissa Cole from Central Intelligence. This is Robert
Hewitt from A.S.I.S. We're here because you're going to do us a favor.

SAYID: A favor?

ROBERT HEWITT: Last week 300 pounds of C-4 explosives were stolen from an army
base outside of Melbourne. The men responsible are members of a terrorist cell
intent on disrupting the coalition presence in Iraq. Three hundred pounds of C-
4. I want it back.

(He turns and looks at Melissa Cole.)

SAYID: You're the CIA. Plant a few bugs.

MELISSA COLE: Oh, we have. But you're going to get inside for us.

SAYID: I am Iraqi. I am not a terrorist.

MELISSA COLE: We didn't snatch you up because you were a terrorist, Sayid. We
snatched you up because you know one.

(She takes out a surveillance photo of a man and shows it to Sayid.)

ROBERT HEWITT: Essam Tazia. Your roommate at Cairo University. He's a member
of the cell.

(Sayid turns to look at Robert Hewitt.)

SAYID: And why should I care?

ROBERT HEWITT: You'd be saving lives.

SAYID: I repeat, why should I care?

MELISSA COLE: Because we know where she is.

(Sayid turns back to Melissa Cole. He is very, very quiet.)

MELISSA COLE: Seven years since you left Iraq. Six months here, three months
there. Always moving. There's only two reasons why a man would do that, Sayid.
Either he's running away from something or looking for something.

(She takes out a second surveillance photo of a woman.)

MELISSA COLE: Noor Abed Jazeem.

(Sayid picks up the photo and looks at it.)

SAYID: (to himself) Nobody calls her Noor.

MELISSA COLE: You want to know where she is?

(Sayid looks at Melissa. Oh, yes he does.)

MELISSA COLE: Then we're going to Sydney.

(Camera holds on Sayid.)

RESUME TO PRESENT.

[INT. JUNGLE - DAY - PRESENT]

(Kate cautiously steps through the jungle foliage. She looks around and moves
slowly. Finally she sees something and steps quickly forward.)

(On the plant leaves in front of her is a long, thin piece of cloth. Kate picks
it up. She stands up and continues to look for more signs around her.)

(Then she hears rustling in the plants to her right.)

(She turns and looks.)

(Jack, exhaustion in his blood-shot and tired eyes, steps out from the plants.
He stops, turns and sees Kate.)

JACK: (breathing heavily) Kate, what are you doing out here?

KATE: Looking for you.

JACK: Well ... you found me.

(Jack starts to trek through the plants. Kate grudgingly follows him.)

KATE: You're walking in circles. You need to come back.

JACK: Not without Locke.

KATE: You haven't slept. You gave Boone your own blood--

JACK: (interrupts) Locke lied.

KATE: Well, now you're --

(He whirls around.)

JACK: (shouts) He lied, Kate.

(He looks at her.)

JACK: (quietly) Boone did not fall off any cliff. His leg was crushed.
(getting upset) And I based my medical treatment on his lie!

(Jack turns and heads out again. Kate follows him.)

KATE: (quietly) People are scared and upset. (Jack stops.) They don't know
what's going on. We need you to come back, Jack. (beat) Please?

(Jack looks at Kate. Even though he doesn't want to, he knows he's going to.)

CUT TO:

[FUNERAL PROCESSION]

(Jack and Hurley carry Boone's body back to the beach on a stretcher. Boone is
wrapped tightly in a blue tarp, his head exposed. The other survivors follow
quietly in his wake.)

(Sawyer rubs his wrist against his nose, looking down as he joins the small
group of survivors gathered to pay their last respects to Boone. The walk up
the small patch of green grass, a clearing just beyond the shoreline.)

[FAR SHOT]

(Jack and Hurley carry Boone's body to the grave dug in the ground.)

(They put the stretcher down next to the grave.)

[VARIOUS SHOTS OF THE CASTAWAYS]

(Hurley is quiet as he looks at Boone.)

(Jin and the others remain silent as well.)

[PAIR OF HANDS]

(Walt puts his hand in Michael and looks up at his father. Michael looks back
at Walt.)

(Claire holds her newborn son.)

(Sun turns and looks at Kate, the two women sharing their grief with the other.)

(Sayid stares out in front of him, then turns to look at Shannon, who hasn't
taken her eyes off of Boone.)

(Jack reaches down and pulls the edges of the tarp closed over Boone's head,
covering his face. Finished, he steps back.)

(Charlie stands next to Claire and the baby.)

(Jack looks at Shannon.)

JACK: (breathing heavily) Shannon ... do you want to ... you want to say
something?

SHANNON: No.

(Sayid looks from Shannon to Jack. The group lapses into a heavy silence.)

(Michael looks at Jack. Even Hurley looks over at Jack. Possibly, everyone
expects Jack to say something. Jack looks down at Boone's body.)

SAYID: (o.s.) I didn't know Boone very well, ...

(Everyone turns and looks at Sayid.)

SAYID: ... and for that I'm sorry. On our sixth day here, a woman named Joanna
died. She drowned. And Boone was the first one into the water.

(Michael puts his arm around Walt and pulls him closer to his side.)

SAYID: I-I didn't know him, but I'll remember his courage, and I know he will
be missed.

(Sayid turns and looks at Shannon.)

(Camera holds on Jack.)

LOCKE: (o.s.) It was my fault.

(Jack looks up. Everyone turns around and sees that Locke has returned. He
stands on the outskirts of the group, near an old tree, his shirt still stained
with Boone's blood.)

LOCKE: We found a plane -- a Beechcraft -- in the jungle. It was lodged in the
canopy, so ... I-I would have gone up, but I -

(Everyone stares at Locke.)

LOCKE: My leg was hurt, so he ...

(Shannon glares at Locke.)

LOCKE: There was a radio inside, and he thought he could ...

(Locke falters. Jack watches Locke and gets angrier and angrier, his glare
seething. Locke rubs his eyes.)

LOCKE: Look ... his weight must have made the plane shift, and then it fell,
and ... happened because he was trying to help us. (simply) He was a hero.

(Locke stops.)

[FAR SHOT]

(Jack stands in the center of the small group of survivors standing in a semi-
circle around the grave. Locke remains on the outside.)

JACK: Where were you?

(Locke doesn't answer him. Jack heads toward Locke.)

JACK: Where were you?

(Jack rushes toward Locke.)

JACK: (shouts) Where the hell were you, you son of a bitch?!

(Jack reaches Locke and pushes him backward, all the while yelling at him.)

JACK: What did you do to him?!

VOICE: Wait! Stop!
VOICE: Hey!
VOICE: Jack! Jack!

(Jin, Kate, Michael and the others quickly follow Jack. Jack tackles Locke.
There's a commotion.)

JACK: What did you do to him?!

VOICE: Wait! Wait!
SAWYER: Jack!
KATE: Jack!

JACK: (screams) Where were you? You just left him to die! You lied to me!

(Kate, Sawyer and Charlie pull Jack off of Locke, holding him back.)

JACK: (screams) Where were you?!

[EXT. BEACH -- DAY]

(Jack lunges for Locke again and again. Kate, Sawyer and Charlie struggle to
keep Jack apart from Locke, who is still back on the ground.)

CHARLIE: Jack! It's okay! It's okay!

SAWYER: Come on! Come on!

JACK: (screams) Where were you?!

JACK: (screams) Where were you?!

SAWYER: Get off!

KATE: Jack!

CHARLIE: Hey! Hey!

(Jack stops.)

KATE: J-Jack! Jack ... what's the matter?

CHARLIE: Hey!

(Jack sways and wobbles on his feet. That final outburst took it all out of
him.)

KATE: Are you -- Are you okay?

CHARLIE: Breathe. Breathe, Jack.

(Finally, Jack collapses.)

SAWYER: (to anyone behind him) Get some water!

(Charlie and Kate kneel down next to Jack, tending to him.)

CHARLIE: (quietly to Jack) Breathe. (louder, to everyone) He's okay.

(Locke stares at Jack on the ground. Jack can barely move.)

CHARLIE: It's okay. Breathe, Jack.

(Locke turns and sees Sayid glaring at him.)

JACK: (PRE-LAP) He's lying.

CUT TO:

[EXT. BEACH - DAY]

(Sayid walks with Jack through the beach camp. Kate and Sun follow them.
They're all concerned about Jack.)

SAYID: You're suffering from fatigue.

JACK: Locke told Boone not to tell.

SAYID: Not to tell about what?

JACK: Something about a hatch. (pause) Locke's hiding something.

(Sayid stops.)

SAYID: Jack, listen --

(Jack turns around and faces Sayid.)

JACK: (interrupts) Look, the man is hiding something.

(Sayid firmly grasps Jack by his shoulders.)

SAYID: Jack, listen to me. What we need is for the one doctor on this island
to get some sleep.

JACK: (shakes his head) I'm fine. I don't need it.

KATE: Jack.

(Jack looks as if he's about to argue, but Sun steps forward.)

SUN: You need some rest.

(She puts a hand on his arm. Jack takes a deep breath.)

SUN: Come on.

(Sayid turns and walks away.)

(They sit up.)

MAN: (prayer in Arabic) (unsubtitled)

left. The prayers continue.)

MAN: (prayer in Arabic) (unsubtitled)

CONGREGATION: (murmurs) (unsubtitled)

(When they turn, Essam sees Sayid.)

(The prayers end. Sayid quietly gets up and leaves the mosque.)

(Essam stands up, his gaze on Sayid's back as he walks out the door.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. (SYDNEY) MOSQUE - DAY - FLASHBACK]

(Sayid walks across the mosque's courtyard when Essam calls out to him.)

ESSAM TAZIA: Sayid!

(Sayid turns around to see Essam walk out of the mosque.)

ESSAM TAZIA: Sayid! It is you.

(Essam catches up with Sayid.)

SAYID: Essam.

ESSAM TAZIA: So you haven't forgotten me.

(They hug and kiss each other in greeting.)

SAYID: Hardly.

ESSAM TAZIA: What are you doing in Sydney?

SAYID: I've been traveling. And you?

ESSAM TAZIA: I live here. Almost a year now. I'm a tree cutter. I cut trees.

SAYID: Sounds like good, honest work.

ESSAM TAZIA: So much for my philosophy degree, huh?

SAYID: Whatever puts food on your table. How is Zara?

(Essam becomes quiet and swallows hard.)

ESSAM TAZIA: (quietly) She died. Stray bomb while she was shopping for a
dress.

SAYID: I'm so sorry.

ESSAM TAZIA: Listen, listen, we've got a lot of catching up to do. Why don't
you come over?

SAYID: I'd love to.

CUT TO:

[INT. (SYDNEY) ESSAM'S PLACE - LIVING ROOM - DAY - FLASHBACK]

(Two men, Haddad and Yusef, play a video game on the television as they smoke
cigarettes. There are a couple of pizza boxes on the coffee table.)

YUSEF: Damn it. I'm out of ammo.

HADDAD: Use the crowbar.

YUSEF: That only works on the zombies, not the big bugs.

(Essam pours Sayid a drink from the teakettle and sits down across him.)

SAYID: Indeed. The three of you live here?

ESSAM TAZIA: Sydney's very expensive. It's the best we can afford.

(Sayid raises his glass at Essam as he drinks.)

HADDAD: And what is it you do, Sayid?

SAYID: At the moment, I'm at liberty.

ESSAM TAZIA: He's on holiday. You'll love the beaches here.

(Sayid looks up and sees the fire alarm light on.)

ESSAM TAZIA: There is something to be said for Australian women.

(Sayid glances at Essam, puts a hand on his arm and gets up. His eyes are on
the fire alarm.)

(Sayid stands up and heads over to the fire alarm. He talks calmly although
Essam and the others note his odd behavior.)

SAYID: I've had the misfortune of being landlocked for several years. The last
beach I was at was Sharm el-Sheik.

(Sayid puts his glass on the coffee table, then returns his gaze back to the
fire alarm.)

SAYID: With you, Essam, remember?

(Sayid takes Haddad's cigarette right out of his mouth and stands on the coffee
table to reach the fire alarm.

SAYID: Before our English exams.

(Sayid waves the cigarette's smoking tip under the smoke alarm. Nothing
happens.)

SAYID: I hear the beaches here are very nice --

(Sayid turns and hands the cigarette back to the roommate.)

SAYID: -- especially the women.

(Sayid opens the smoke alarm and looks inside.)

SAYID: Perhaps we can go.

(Sayid removes the listening device and looks at it. He steps down from the
table and plops the listening device in a glass of water.)

SAYID: So tell me -- exactly what kind of trees do you cut?

(Haddad stands up and looks at Sayid.)

HADDAD: Who are you?

SAYID: I was a communications officer.

ESSAM TAZIA: Sayid was a Republican Guard. He knows things.

(Haddad glances over at Essam, then returns his gaze back to Sayid.)

HADDAD: Perhaps it's not happenstance that you and Essam met at the mosque.

(Essam looks confused. Sayid doesn't respond.)

HADDAD: Perhaps it is fate.

(Camera holds on Sayid.)

RESUME TO PRESENT.

[EXT. BEACH -- CLAIRE'S SHELTER -- DAY -- -PRESENT]

(Claire holds her baby. She looks at Sun and Charlie.)

CLAIRE: It's okay. Look, I'm fine, really, okay?

CHARLIE: You need rest, Claire. (He looks at Sun.) Sun, tell her.

SUN: In a hospital, they would have you sleep. The nurses would take your
baby.

CLAIRE: Yeah, but I'm not in the hospital.

CHARLIE: Well, all the more reason to take extra care, Claire. Look, it's
okay. I can take care of Turnip Head for a while.

CLAIRE: Turnip Head?

CHARLIE: It's just what I'm calling him till you give him a name, 'cause his
head ... (Claire glares at him and adjusts her hold on the baby. Charlie
falters.) -- looks like a turnip.

CLAIRE: Look, what if he needs something, okay?

CHARLIE: You'll be there for him after you sleep.

CLAIRE: No, okay? No.

(Sun glances at Charlie.)

CHARLIE: Claire, no one is going to take this baby away from you. No one.

CLAIRE: You don't know that, okay? You can't say that.

CHARLIE: I won't let it happen.

(Claire looks down at the baby in her arms, then back at Charlie.)

CLAIRE: Just be really careful, okay? Make sure if he gets hot, that you take
his blanket off.

(Claire hands the baby over to Charlie and helps Charlie hold him.)

CLAIRE: His neck, okay? Hold his neck.

CHARLIE: I got him. I got him.

CUT TO:

[EXT. BEACH - DAY]

(Shannon sits on the beach alone. Locke walks up to her carrying a backpack.)

LOCKE: This was his.

(He puts the backpack on the sand in front of Shannon.)

LOCKE: I didn't go through it.

SHANNON: Thank you.

LOCKE: Welcome.

(Locke sits down next to Shannon. He turns and looks out at the ocean.)

LOCKE: Storm coming. I should have said no. First time he offered to hunt
with me, I should have said no.

SHANNON: He would have gone anyway.

LOCKE: Yeah, I suppose he would have. I know how confused and angry you must
be right now. I can't say I understand what you're going through, but ... I
know what it feels like when you lose family.

(For the first time, Shannon turns and looks at Locke. There's a cold look in
her eyes. Shannon doesn't say anything.)

LOCKE: I hope you can forgive me. I'm sorry.

(Locke stands up and leaves. At first, she starts to cry all over again, but
stops herself. Shannon glares at him as he goes. )

CUT TO:

[INT. BEACH - SAYID'S SHELTER -- DAY]

(Sayid is working on a piece of electronics. We hear footsteps approaching.)

SHANNON: (o.s.) You asked if you could do anything for me.

(Sayid looks up at Shannon. He stands up and faces her.)

SAYID: Anything.

SHANNON: John Locke killed my brother. Will you do something about that?

FADE OUT.

FADE IN.

[EXT. BEACH (STOCK) - DAY]

(The ocean waves crash against the rocks.)

[EXT. BEACH - KATE'S SHELTER -- DAY]

(Kate watches Jack drink. He hands the cup back to her. She pushes it back to
him.)

KATE: A little more.

JACK: No.

KATE: You need to get your blood sugar level up.

JACK: All right, look, enough already. I've rested.

(Jack starts to get to his feet.)

KATE: Jack --

JACK: I'm fine.

KATE: Where are you going?

(He's got one knee and one foot on the ground getting ready to stand up. He
stops to get his breath.)

JACK: I'm gonna go talk to Locke.

KATE: No, you need to lie down.

JACK: No, I don't.

KATE: I strongly advise it.

JACK: Advise. Advice. What --

(Jack can't seem to stand up. He sits back on the ground.)

JACK: All right, what's going on now?

(He blinks rapidly. Kate helps him back.)

KATE: Lie down, okay?

(Jack lies down.)

KATE: I crushed up some sleeping pills. Put them in your juice.

(Jack blinks)

JACK: Why would you -- you drugged me?

KATE: Yeah.

JACK: (exhales) Oh ... (chuckles) Okay.

(Jack closes his eyes as sleep overcomes him. Kate watches over Jack as he
falls asleep.)

KATE: Good night.

CUT TO:

[INT. CAVES -- DAY]

(Locke is at the water fountain washing the blood out from his shirt.)

(Walt stands nearby watching him wordlessly. Locke looks at Walt and waves.
Walt doesn't wave back. He walks away from Locke. Locke notes this and goes
back to washing his shirt.)

(Camera moves a little and we see Sayid standing behind Locke.)

SAYID: How did you get that?

(Locke looks at Sayid, then glances down at the scar on his left side.)

LOCKE: War wound.

SAYID: Looks more like a surgical scar.

LOCKE: Like I said, war wound.

SAYID: The plane's radio -- was Boone able to pick up a signal?

LOCKE: I was on the ground. All I could hear was static.

SAYID: So it was working?

LOCKE: Yeah, but I can't imagine it survived the fall.

SAYID: Some of its parts might work in the transmitter I'm building for the
raft. If you'd be willing to take me.

LOCKE: Of course.

SAYID: (v.o.) How did you find this plane?

TIME CUT TO:

[EXT. JUNGLE -- DAY]

(Locke and Sayid walk through the tall grass in the jungle.)

LOCKE: Luck.

SAYID: You and Boone were hunting?

LOCKE: Is that a question?

SAYID: Yes.

LOCKE: Boar got scarce a couple weeks back. We weren't hunting. We were
exploring.

SAYID: So you just happened upon a Beechcraft perched in the trees?

LOCKE: Yep.

SAYID: At the funeral, you said your leg was injured.

LOCKE: It was just a charley horse. (Locke glances at Sayid and explains.)
Cramp.

SAYID: I know what a charley horse is, John.

LOCKE: Back in Iraq, you were an interrogator.

SAYID: Is that a question?

LOCKE: Yeah.

SAYID: A long time ago I was.

LOCKE: Well, you haven't lost your touch.

SAYID: Why would I interrogate you, John?

JACK: Jack called me a liar in front of every man, woman, and child I've come
to know over the past month. And maybe there's a part of you that thinks maybe
there isn't a plane out here at all.

SAYID: I know when I'm being lied to. There's a plane.

(Locke turns and walks cautiously, looking straight ahead at something.)

(Locke sees the plane. He points to it with his knife.)

LOCKE: Like I said - you haven't lost your touch.

(Sayid sees the plane. Locke turns and looks at Sayid.)

(They both head for the plane.)

SAYID: (v.o.) You've lost your edge, old man.

CUT TO:

[EXT. (SYDNEY) PARK -- DAY -- FLASHBACK]

(Sayid and Essam play soccer in the park.)

ESSAM TAZIA: I never had one when I played you.

SAYID: Were you always this slow?

ESSAM TAZIA: Come on, come on, let's keep playing.

SAYID: You have to get out of that apartment, practice more.

ESSAM TAZIA: Haddad would like that. More blending in with the community.

SAYID: I think he's got his eye on a target.

ESSAM TAZIA: What makes you say that?

SAYID: For the past two weeks, he's been asking me about explosives. Blast
radius. Transport.

ESSAM TAZIA: Haddad's very thorough.

SAYID: Do you know if he's gotten hold of any yet?

ESSAM TAZIA: The explosives? I don't know. All I know is there's going to be
an operation and there is going to be a martyr.

SAYID: You.

ESSAM TAZIA: Haddad told me this morning.

(The words sink in. Essam tries to get around Sayid to continue playing, but
Sayid grabs Essam.)

ESSAM TAZIA: Come on. Let's keep playing.

SAYID: Essam.

ESSAM TAZIA: Come on, Sayid. Come on.

SAYID: Essam.

(Sayid grabs Essam, trying to stop him from moving around.)

SAYID: What is it, huh? What is it?

(Essam stops moving and looks at Sayid.)

ESSAM TAZIA: I don't think I can do it.

(Sayid stares at Essam.)

MELISSA COLE: (v.o.) You're kidding me, right?

[EXT. (SYDNEY) PIER - DAY -- FLASHBACK]

(Sayid meets with Melissa Cole and Robert Hewitt.)

SAYID: Listen to me. I can get Essam to turn himself in. He wants out.

MELISSA COLE: Does he know where the C-4 is?

SAYID: The other two are the ones you want. Essam's confused --

MELISSA COLE: (interrupts) Does he know where it is?

SAYID: No.

MELISSA COLE: Then he's useless. These cells run top down. It's all need-to-
know. The recruit's handed a bomb and a target at the last possible moment.
The only way to find that C-4 is to wait for Essam to walk out that door with a
target to hit.

SAYDI: He's in over his head. He doesn't even know why he's doing it.

MELISSA COLE: That's why you're gonna convince him to go through with it.

SAYID: No. No, I will not.

ROBERT HEWITT: Excuse me?

(Sayid turns around to face Hewitt.)

SAYID: I'm done. It's over.

ROBERT HEWITT: No, no, you're not even close to being done, my friend.

SAYID: What are you going to do, arrest me?

MELISSA COLE: No. (Sayid turns around back to Melissa.) We'll arrest her.
Your girlfriend's an Iraqi living abroad with a record of insurgency. Wouldn't
it be terrible if she got picked up as an enemy combatant, Sayid? So if you
want any chance of ever seeing her again, you're gonna go and talk your good
friend Essam into blowing himself up.

[EXT. BEACH -- DAY - PRESENT]

(Charlie walks across the beach, the crying baby in his arms. He sings "Itsy,
Bitsy Spider", trying to calm him.)

CHARLIE: (sings) Itsy-bitsy spider climbed up the spout / down came the rain
and drowned the spider out ... when the --

(Hurley walks up to them carrying a fishing pole.)

HURLEY: (quietly) Dude, it's "washed."

(Charlie looks at Hurley.)

HURLEY: "Washed the spider out." Unless there's some kind of British version.

(Hurley walks along with Charlie. The baby continues to cry.)

CHARLIE: Oh, okay.

(Charlie goes back to the song.)

CHARLIE: (singing) Down came the rain / and washed the spider - oh, bollocks.
Shh-shh-shh.

HURLEY: What's the matter, man?

CHARLIE: Well, I can't get the bloody thing to stop crying.

HURLEY: Maybe he's hungry.

CHARLIE: (shakes his head) No. Claire nursed him five times.

HURLEY: Made any deposits? (Charlie looks at Hurley.) You know, diaper-wise?

(Charlie sticks his nose close to the baby's bottom and inhales deeply. He
looks at Hurley and shakes his head.)

(The baby continues to cry.)

HURLEY: All right. (He stabs the fishing pole into the sand next to him.)
It's time to break out the big guns.

(Hurley looks at the baby and transforms into ... James Brown!)

HURLEY: Whoa! (sings) I feel good! / na-na, na-na, na-na, na / I knew that I
would now! / na-na, na-na, na-na, na

(Charlie tries to help by swaying in time to Hurley's singing.)

HURLEY: (sings) I feel good! / na-na, na-na, na-na, na / I knew that I would
now! / na-na, na-na, na-na, na / so good / so good / I got you bum-bum-bum-bum /
Ooww!

(They both look at the baby. It doesn't work. The baby continues to cry.)

(Charlie looks at Hurley.)

HURLEY: Dude, that's all I got.

[EXT. JUNGLE - THE PLANE -- DAY]

(Sayid has a plastic bag open. On the ground around him are broken Virgin Mary
ceramic figures. He dips the tip of his finger in the white power and tastes
it.)

SAYID: Heroin.

(Sayid and Locke are just outside the over-turned plane.)

LOCKE: The cargo hold's full of it. Best I can figure, they were smugglers.

(Sayid stands up and looks up at the edge of the cliff.)

SAYID: The plane was perched on the canopy?

LOCKE: (points) Right up there.

SAYID: And Boone climbed up by himself because of your charley horse?

LOCKE: Yes, that's right.

SAYID: Why did you lie?

(Locke falters and exhales. He thinks about it. He scratches his brow.)

LOCKE: I made a mistake.

SAYID: I'm going to salvage what I can of the radio. If we leave now, we
should beat the storm back.

(Sayid crawls into the plane. Locke walks over to the plane. He's holding a
clay Virgin Mary statue in his hand. On the plane are a backpack and a tool
kit.)

LOCKE: Why don't you trust me, Sayid?

(Sayid crawls back out.)

SAYID: For one thing, you've been carrying a gun you've told no one about.

(Locke puts the statue down on the plane.)

LOCKE: We found one of the smugglers about a half a click west of here dressed
as a priest, Nigerian currency in his pockets, and this.

(Locke takes out the gun. He looks at it and gives it to Sayid.)

LOCKE: Now you're armed and I'm not. Does that earn me any trust?

SAYID: You gave this to me because I caught you concealing it. That earns you
adaptability.

(Sayid checks the clip and tucks the gun in his waist.)

LOCKE: Okay, I'll tell you something you don't know.

SAYID: Please do.

LOCKE: The first week after the crash, there was a cave-in. Jack was trapped.
You remember that?

SAYID: Of course.

LOCKE: You, Kate, and Sawyer went out into the jungle to triangulate a signal.

SAYID: Yes.

LOCKE: You were hit from behind, knocked unconscious. When you woke up, the
transceiver, your equipment was destroyed.

[Note: Reference to 1X07: The Moth]

(Sayid stares at him, his face grim. He already knows what Locke is going to
say.)

LOCKE: That was me.

FADE OUT.

(COMMERCIAL SET)

FADE IN.

[EXT. JUNGLE - THE PLANE -- DAY]

(Sayid stares at Locke. Suddenly, he moves, grabs Locke by the neck and points
the gun at him.)

SAYID: This is one time you'd better not be telling the truth!

LOCKE: I did what was in everyone's best interest.

SAYID: You ruined my chance to find the source!

LOCKE: The source of a distress call that kept saying they're dead, it killed
them all over and over? Is that a place you really want to lead people to?

(Sayid releases his hold on Locke, but keeps his gun pointed at him.)

SAYID: Why wait all this time? Why not tell me then?

LOCKE: (rubbing his neck) Because back then you wouldn't have engaged in
reasonable debate. And nobody else would have. You were all so focused on
getting off the island that you weren't seeing things clearly. It's like what's
happening now with the raft.

(Sayid points the gun at Locke's chest.)

SAYID: Did you burn the raft, John?

LOCKE: No, Sayid, I didn't.

SAYID: What is the hatch?

LOCKE: The hatch?

SAYID: Boone mentioned it before he died.

LOCKE: A hatch? (Sayid cocks the gun. Locke looks at the plane.) Two hatches
on a plane, Sayid. Could be forward or aft.

(Sayid stares at Locke. Locke meets his gaze steadily.)

ESSAM TAZIA: (v.o.) I'm not sure if I can do this.

(Sayid lowers the gun.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. (SYDNEY) STREET -- DAY -- FLASHBACK]

(Sayid and Essam walk across the busy street.)

SAYID: You would not be a martyr if you didn't have to overcome fear, Essam.

ESSAM TAZIA: I am not afraid to die. It's all the innocent lives. All those
people. The imam preaches peace, Sayid. That every human life is sacred.

(They stop and look around.)

SAYID: It's true, innocent lives will be lost in service of a greater good.

ESSAM TAZIA: What if I'm doing this because I'm angry? What if I'm doing this
because they killed her?

SAYID: What if you are?

(They walk over to a bench and sit down.)

SAYID: Should we just accept what happened to Zara? What about all the others
like her? Do we just accept their deaths? Because if we do, it means
ultimately we care nothing about them. I lost someone, too, Essam. I will
never be whole again. There need to be consequences for those responsible.
That's my duty. That is how I will honor her.

ESSAM TAZIA: Haddad was right. It was fate that brought us back together.
Sayid ... will you do this with me?

SAYID: I will.

[EXT. BEACH - SHANNON'S SHELTER -- DAY -- PRESENT]

(Shannon sits and looks through Boone's backpack. She takes out his billfold
and opens it. Inside, she takes out a photo of herself with Boone.)

(She looks at the photo.)

(Sayid walks up to Shannon. She looks up at Sayid as he gently reaches out and
rubs the back of her neck.)

SAYID: How are you? Do you want to take a walk?

SHANNON: Sure.

(Shannon sets Boone's backpack aside, gets up and walks with Sayid.)

SAYID: I spoke to Locke.

SHANNON: What did he say?

SAYID: He took me to the plane. I believe what happened was an accident.

SHANNON: Then why did he lie?

SAYID: I have no idea. But I don't believe he meant to harm Boone.

SHANNON: So that's it?

SAYID: I know how strong the need can be to find someone to blame.

SHANNON: You don't get it, do you?

SAYID: Shannon --

SHANNON: Just forget about it, okay?

(She turns and walks angrily away from Sayid.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. BEACH - BOAT SITE -- DAY]

(Michael and Jin continue to work on the raft. Walt sits on the bottom half of
the raft.)

WALT: How much weight can this hold?

MICHAEL: I don't know. A lot. Enough.

(Jin hits the bamboo piece with the palm of his hand, checking it. On the other
end of it, Michael is securing it with some wire.)

JIN: (in Korean) (unsubtitled)

MICHAEL: (nods) Yeah, yeah. Tighter. Got it.

(Jin nods.)

WALT: What if it tips over?

MICHAEL: It won't. That's why we made it this wide. There. That should do it.
(to Jin) Right? Good?

(Jin nods.)

JIN: Good.

MICHAEL: All right.

(Jin smiles.)

WALT: What if a shark attacks?

MICHAEL: Sharks aren't getting anywhere near us, man.

(Jin steps down from the raft.)

WALT: What if we die?

(Michael stops working and looks seriously at Walt.)

MICHAEL: We are not gonna die.

WALT: Boone died.

(Off screen, we hear the baby's crying getting louder, signaling Charlie's
arrival.)

CHARLIE: Hey, Michael, do you know anything about babies? I can't get this
little guy to be quiet.

MICHAEL: Uh, walk with him. He'll calm down.

CHARLIE: Yeah, I tried that.

(Jin returns to the raft. Charlie turns to get his attention.)

CHARLIE: Hey, Jin! Have you seen Sun? (Jin turns to look at Charlie.)

JIN: Huh?

CHARLIE: (clearly) Sun. I need some help with this baby.

JIN: (shakes his head and motions with his hand for emphasis) No.

CHARLIE: (nods) Okay.

(The baby continues to cry. Just then, Sawyer walks over to the site carrying a
sheet of wood. He passes Charlie and the baby.)

SAWYER: Hey, Chucky, wanna keep that kid quiet? (The baby quiets down.) Baby
Huey's like nails on a chalkboard.

(Charlie looks down at the baby and notices that he's stopped crying.)

(Sawyer tosses the sheet of wood down to the ground.)

CHARLIE: (to the baby) Oh, there you go. (to Sawyer) You happy now?

(Sawyer doesn't say anything. The baby starts to cry again.)

SAWYER: (irritably) I was. If you're gonna play nursemaid, at least do the
damn job.

(The baby stops crying. Charlie looks at the baby and inches toward Sawyer.)

CHARLIE: Hey --hey, say something else. (Sawyer's quiet and the baby starts
crying again.) Just say something. Say anything.

SAWYER: Okay, fine. I liked that thing a lot better inside than I like it
outside.

(Well, what do you know! The baby stops crying and is, in fact, coo-ing. As
Sawyer walks away, Charlie eagerly follows him with the baby. Sawyer turns and
looks annoyingly at Charlie.)

SAWYER: What?

(Charlie doesn't say anything, but is determined to follow Sawyer wherever he
goes.)

(Sawyer glances at Charlie, then quickly rushes out of camera frame.)

CUT TO:

[INT. BEACH - KATE'S SHELTER -- DAY]

(Jack's sleeping. He slowly awakens. We note that the cord holding the key to
the Halliburton is no longer around his neck. He turns and finds Kate sitting
next to him, smiling.)

KATE: Hey.

(Jack groans, sits up and rubs his eyes. Kate reaches down and picks up a
bowl.)

KATE: Brought you something to eat.

JACK: What's in it, chloroform?

KATE: Soup.

(Jack rubs his neck.)

JACK: Thanks, but I think I'll -

(Jack stops suddenly and realizes that the key is missing. He quickly looks
around on the pallet he's been sleeping on.)

JACK: Who was in here?

KATE: (confused) I don't know. What-What's the matter?

JACK: (firmly) Was anybody in here?

KATE: No. Why are you --

JACK: The key to the gun case. It's gone.

SHORT TIME CUT:

[EXT. BEACH - DAY -- CONTINUOUS]

(Jack and Kate walk rapidly through the beach.)

KATE: Maybe it fell off this morning.

JACK: It didn't fall off.

(They meet up with Sayid, who sees how agitated Jack is.)

SAYID: What's going on?

JACK: (to Sayid) Locke took the key. He's after the guns.

(Jack and Kate continue on walking away from Sayid. Sayid watches them go. He
can still hear their conversation.)

KATE: (o.s.) I haven't seen him all day. You don't know --

JACK: (o.s.) No? Then who was it?

(Their words and the situation finally sinks in with Sayid. Sayid tries to stop
them.)

SAYID: Jack.

(Jack turns around and heads back to Sayid.)

SAYID: (quietly) It wasn't Locke.

(Thunder rumbles in the distance. Camera holds on Jack.)

CUT TO:

[THE HALLIBURTON CASE]

(It's pouring. The gun case is resting on the rocks. Someone unlocks and opens
the case.)

(Someone reaches in and picks up one of the guns. Shannon checks the clip and
determinedly holds the gun.)

(She gets up and heads off to find John Locke.)

FADE OUT.

[EXT. (SYDNEY) SIDEWALK - DAY -- FLASHBACK]

(The door opens to building #815 and Sayid steps out onto the sidewalk. He
barely takes two steps when someone calls his name.)

HADDAD: (o.s.) Sayid.

(Sayid turns and sees a white van pulled up alongside the curb. The driver's
door opens and Haddad gets out. He grabs Sayid.)

HADDAD: Get in.

(Sayid climbs into the back of the van. He takes a seat opposite Essam. They
look at each other. Haddad pops in the back of the van.)

HADDAD: It's time.

(Haddad steps back out of the van. Essam turns and looks at Sayid. The van
door closes.)

CUT TO:

[INT. (SYDNEY) WAREHOUSE - DAY - FLASHBACK]

(As the warehouse garage door opens, the white van, license #ALK 125, pulls into
the building and stops near a larger white truck. The van's back door opens.
Haddad, Essam and Sayid get out of the van. Haddad opens the back door to the
truck. Inside are stacks of file boxes.)

HADDAD: Stay relaxed and focused. Drive with the windows down.

(Haddad jumps into the back of the white truck and motions for them to join him.
He opens one of the file box covers to show them the HIGH EXPLOSIVE inside.)

HADDAD: The fresh air will keep you alert.

(Sayid looks at the explosives. Haddad hands them dark-colored jackets.)

HADDAD: You will need to wear these.

(They put them on. Essam's name label on his jacket reads JAMES. Sayid's name
label reads STEVE.)

HADDAD: If you run into any problems ...

(Haddad checks the gun and hands it to Essam. He looks at them.)

HADDAD: ... use this. You are heroes. Good luck.

(Haddad turns and leaves.)

(Sayid and Essam get into the front of the white truck.)

(Essam immediately puts his hands up, closes his eyes and starts praying softly
to himself.)

(Sayid looks at Essam.)

(When Essam is ready, he starts the engine.)

SAYID: Essam, stop.

ESSAM TAZIA: Don't be nervous, brother. We'll be okay.

SAYID: I'm working with the CIA.

ESSAM TAZIA: What?

SAYID: I'm going to give you ten minutes to get away before I call them.

ESSAM TAZIA: You set me up?

SAYID: Essam, just go.

ESSAM TAZIA: Why would you do this to me?

SAYID: You're wasting time.

ESSAM TAZIA: You said we were going to do this together. You said you lost
someone.

SAYID: Her name is Nadia. We were separated years ago. They know where I can
find her.

ESSAM TAZIA: You used me to find a woman?

(Upset, Essam looks away from Sayid. Suddenly, he takes out the gun and points
it at Sayid.)

ESSAM TAZIA: You talked me into this.

SAYID: Essam, don't.

ESSAM TAZIA: You said it was for the greater good.

SAYID: I'm begging you to go.

ESSAM TAZIA: You said you were my brother. You were supposed to be my brother,
my friend.

SAYID: I am your friend.

ESSAM TAZIA: A friend who told me to do this for Zara just so you could find
some woman that you love?!

(Sayid gasps as Essam continues to hold the gun on him.)

ESSAM TAZIA: Well, Sayid, I hope she makes you whole again.

(Essam removes the gun and points it at his own chin.)

[ON SAYID]

SAYID: Essam - !

(Essam fires.)

[EXT. JUNGLE -- DAY -- PRESENT]

(Sayid runs through the jungle. It's raining. Thunder rumbles. Just behind
him, Kate and Jack are following him. But Jack isn't up to par yet. Suddenly,
Jack stops, falters and falls to the ground. He's still groggy from
everything.)

(Kate turns back and sees Jack. He motions for them to continue on without
him.)

JACK: Go! Go!

(Kate looks and sees Sayid disappear through the foliage in front of her. She
quickly turns back and helps Jack stand up.)

(Cut to: Sayid runs through the jungle.)

(Locke is standing with his arms wide open, looking straight in front of him
when Sayid comes upon him.)

(Sayid stops and looks at Locke.)

LOCKE: She doesn't believe me, Sayid.

(Sayid looks over and sees Shannon holding the gun pointed at Locke.)

SAYID: Shannon ... Shannon ... please listen to me.

SHANNON: He did it. I know it.

SAYID: You're not thinking rationally. You've never fired a gun before.

(Shannon moves the gun a little off of Locke and fires near Sayid. Sayid
flinches.)

(Shannon points the gun back at Locke.)

SAYID: Shannon, you don't want to do this.

SHANNON: Yes, I do.

SAYID: If you do it, you can never take it back.

(Kate and Jack step out from the bushes and stop.)

SHANNON: Stay back!

(Locke turns and looks at Jack.)

SHANNON: What did you do to him?!

LOCKE: I told you it was an accident.

JACK: Shannon -

SHANNON: Jack, you told me he was a liar.

(Jack looks at Locke. Sayid watches Shannon carefully.)

(Suddenly, he moves.)

(Shannon fires.)

(Sayid tackles Shannon.)

(Locke grunts and falls backward.)

(Sayid and Shannon are on the ground.)

SHANNON: (screams) Ahh!

(Kate turns and looks at Locke. She covers her mouth with her hand.)

SHANNON: No!

(Locke doesn't appear to be moving.)

SAYID: (o.s.) Give me --

(Jack stares at Locke.)

(Locke moves.)

SHANNON: (o.s.) Ahh!

(Kate looks relieved. Jack doesn't move from his spot to help Locke.)

(Off screen, we hear Sayid and Shannon struggling.)

SHANNON: (screams) No!

(Kate turns and looks over at Sayid and Shannon. They're both standing.)

SAYID: I'm sorry.

SHANNON: Don't.

(Shannon moves away from him.)

SHANNON: Get away.

SAYID: Shannon -

(Kate rushes over to follow Shannon.)

(Sayid turns and looks at Locke. With a hand on his head, Locke slowly sits
up.)

(Jack remains where he's standing, watching Locke. Locke turns and looks at
Jack. The side of Locke's head, where the bullet grazed him, is bleeding.)

(Jack turns and walks away.)

(Camera holds on Locke.)

FADE OUT.

[INT. BEACH - SHELTER -- DAY]

(Charlie is holding the sleeping baby in his arms as Sawyer reads out loud.)

SAWYER: (reading) "The low rumble breaks the crisp fall air as a flash of red
streaks down the maple-dabbled Vermont highway.

(Sawyer pauses. Charlie looks at Sawyer, who is sitting nearby, glasses on and
reading a magazine. The baby starts to whimper. Sawyer starts reading again
and the baby quiets down.)

SAWYER: (continues) The 32-valve V8 engine purrs as the transmission clicks
down a gear, and the vehicle unleashes all four hundred horses and three hundred
and fifty pound feet of rear-wheel torque."

(Sawyer pauses and looks up.)

(Slowly, Claire steps closer to the shelter.)

(The baby starts making noise. Charlie looks at Sawyer.)

CHARLIE: Keep going. Keep -- keep going.

(The baby starts crying. Claire reaches the shelter.)

CLAIRE: Charlie -

CHARLIE: Shh.

(Charlie motions for Claire to come closer.)

SAWYER: (reading) "Beneath the hood, the 4.4-liter power plant features a
fully-integrated supercharger made into a 6-speed transmission, with a manual
sequential shift feature."

(Claire sits down on the cooler near Charlie. Sawyer pauses. Charlie looks at
Sawyer.)

CHARLIE: Keep going.

(The baby starts crying, but stops when Sawyer starts reading.) Claire leans
forward and gently touches her baby.)

SAWYER: (reading) "This smooth-riding sports car offers a bewitching blend of
taste, comfort, and economy ... "

(Sawyer's voice fades out.)

[EXT. BEACH - CAMPSITE -- NIGHT]

(Shannon sits alone in front of a fire a blanket wrapped around her.)

(From a distance, Sayid watches her. Kate sits down near Sayid. She, too,
looks over at Shannon.)

KATE: She just needs time. She's been through a lot.

(Sayid looks at Kate.)

SAYID: Time won't make a difference. (He pauses. Kate looks at Sayid.)
Perhaps I made a mistake.

KATE: You couldn't let her kill Locke. You had no choice.

SAYID: There's always a choice.

CUT TO:

[EXT. WAREHOUSE -- DAY -- FLASHBACK]

(The gurney with Essam's body is rolled toward the waiting vehicle.)

(Melissa Cole gives Sayid the information.)

MELISSA COLE: She lives in Irvine, California, just south of Los Angeles.
Works as a lab technician in a medical testing company. (She hands him the
ticket.) Plane ticket, walking-around money. You're on an Oceanic flight to
L.A. It leaves in two hours.

(Sayid looks at the gurney being put in the back of the vehicle.)

SAYID: What happens to his body?

MELISSA COLE: He was a terrorist, so he's not exactly getting a state funeral.

SAYID: What happens to his body?

(Robert Hewitt steps forward. Melissa Cole steps aside.)

ROBERT HEWITT: After it's released, he'll be cremated.

SAYID: A Muslim man is supposed to be buried.

ROBERT HEWITT: Yeah, well, there's no one to claim the body.

SAYID: I'll claim him.

ROBERT HEWITT: You can't claim him when you're on a plane in two hours, mate.

(Sayid pushes the plane tickets at Robert Hewitt.)

SAYID: Then change my flight to tomorrow.

(Hewitt turns and looks at Melissa. She nods. Hewitt takes the tickets and
nods to Sayid.)

(Sayid turns and walks away.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. JUNGLE -- NIGHT -- PRESENT]

(Locke sits alone at his campfire as he applies some salve to his head wound.)

(Sayid walks up to Locke.)

SAYID: How's your head?

LOCKE: It'll heal.

SAYID: Another war wound.

LOCKE: I know what it cost you ... to do what you did. Thank you.

SAYID: I did it because I sense you might be our best hope of surviving here.
But I don't forgive what you did, and I certainly don't trust you. And now,
you're going to take me to the hatch.

LOCKE: Hatch? I already showed you --

SAYID: John. No more lies.

(Locke stares at Sayid.)

(Camera holds on Sayid.)
